E-2.1-03, Suspending Debt Collection Efforts (11/12/2014) The servicer must immediately suspend any and all debt collection efforts (including foreclosure proceedings) upon notification of a bankruptcy filing, unless legal counsel expressly advises it that certain collection efforts may be continued. If collection efforts or foreclosure proceedings began before the servicer received notice of the bankruptcy filing, the servicer must contact the law firm as soon as possible to determine how to proceed.
